figuring out how to use my website more strategically.

late stage capitalism suckssss but it can’t hurt to establish and protect my journalism brand before it’s too late. allow me to reintroduce you to my new and improved interactive platform— now with more user-friendly function for my community journalism.

simple is in, and i needed to simplify a lot of things in my life, my website included.
i started crafting my platform brick by brick in 2023, and im happy to continue safeguarding my journalism. my website started as a portfolio/ catch all for my ideas and creations but now that I’m more established in my job and dedicated to personal content creation, it’s time to keep it all together and easy to use and navigate.

NEW
i am organizing my community journalism initiatives on my platform so i have more agency over the stories i tell and topics i report on.
so far, the community journalism initiatives i’m working on in madison, wi include:
south madison development
housing justice
climate sustainability
food access
local government accountability
join the online public group to engage with me about story ideas, leads or other things. it's helpful for organizing and planning coverage, and keeping track of things with my trusted sources. it’s also easier than coordinating across multiple other platforms, and i don’t trust these software developers tbh. my website would be one more thing to keep track of, but this will help me ensure community members are engaged and have equitable communication with me as a reporter. you can subscribe to my website for free to stay updated.
(open to the local residents)
interacting with the online group is like consenting to publish public comment with the city of Madison or Dane County. you have to be a member of my website to do so: to create a membership, provide your email and personal information. your username is public, but your first and last names and contact information are hidden.
NEW
community journalism local experts, leaders and reliable sources can be rewarded with badges next to their names on my website to represent their commitment to solving problems collaboratively. experts will be permitted to facilitate discussions on topics in the online groups of my platform. for example, you could start a story ideas thread, post questions to other community members, or help plan a town hall.
if you’re interested in working on a project or recommending a subject, please contact me or use the community engagement online group to keep me in the loop! you can share audio, video, text and files using the group function. it’s meant to be multimedia and a fun way to work together on community problems.
i hope you enjoy some of the changes! thank you for participating in something new and different.
feel free to engage with one of the subject forums that focuses on transit, public safety, housing or climate sustainability.
i’m always available for questions!
